Revolutionizing Bath Time: The Enkel Rygg

An Innovative Automatic Bath Brush by Mohsen Jafarimalek & Pouya Hosseinzadeh

Introducing the Enkel Rygg, an automatic bath brush designed to transform the bathing experience. This innovative creation by Mohsen Jafarimalek and Pouya Hosseinzadeh is a game-changer in bathroom accessories, offering a unique blend of functionality and design.

The Enkel Rygg was born out of the need for a bathroom accessory that does more than just a bath brush. Inspired by the popularity of face exfoliator devices, the designers envisioned a larger exfoliator that could be useful for the entire body. The result is a multi-functional device that serves as the heart of the bathroom.

What sets the Enkel Rygg apart from other bathroom brushes is its unique features. It comes with a cabinet that can be installed on the bathroom wall, housing three extra brush pads. The brush pads, available in different colors, can be personalized for each family member. The device charges wirelessly when hung on the cabinet, and a flashlight is integrated into the tail of the brush, providing a useful feature for the elderly or during power outages.

The Enkel Rygg is a concept design made with a bent aluminum sheet finished with three anodized colors for the cabinet and injection mold plastic for the inner part. The device itself is made out of fine woods for limited edition models and plastic for economy models. The handle grip part is made of silicon rubber. The designers are currently exploring options for production.

The device is designed for easy interaction. It hangs on its base in the bathroom, allowing the batteries to charge. The user can easily change pads by opening the cabinet door and selecting the desired one. The device features a button for starting and stopping the pad spin. The four different pads include a brush, washcloth, massager, and pumice pad, catering to various bathing needs.

The Enkel Rygg project started in October 2017 and was completed in January 2019 in Tehran, Iran. The design was driven by the need to find an efficient way for the elderly and people with difficulties to wash their back and entire body. The designers also considered the growing trend of skin exfoliation and designed the device to cater to this need. The cabinet on the wall allows the user to hang the device and charge the batteries wirelessly, making it a convenient device for the entire family.

The Enkel Rygg has overcome several design challenges, including the creation of spinning pads in a waterproof device and the wireless charging of batteries. The result is a device that not only makes bathing easier and more enjoyable but also adds a touch of elegance to the bathroom. The design has been recognized with a Silver A' Beauty, Personal Care and Cosmetic Products Design Award in 2019, a testament to its innovative and remarkable design.
